Scents.

I am the type of person who gets headaches easily. If I hit my head I get a headache, step out in the sun, my eyes water and my head slowly fills with a dull ache and that is even on a partly cloudy day. When it comes to fragrances I am very, very picky as some just create an awful headache that sometimes results in nausea.

There are perfumes that are what I refer to as “sticky”. I use this term for perfumes that cling to you and are strong. They follow you room to room and even when you are gone from that room the fragrance lingers…just as strongly as when you stood in its place. I usually apply that to anything Elizabeth Taylor has created. My mother loves Taylor’s “White Diamonds”, or headache in a bottle, as I like to call it. I cannot stand it.

Personally I prefer Marc Jacobs. My favorite is Daisy but he has a way of creating a light fragrance that isn’t overwhelming.  How about you? What is your favorite perfume?

I’ve complied some of the more notable scents to help you decide which should be yours:

If you see yourself running around exotic locations, and living in tropical lands, there is a good chance you are a Fruity/Citrus scent lover. A scent that means you are more lively or sporty.  These scents are usually tangier, and more fresh then other scents. It has been noted that these scents are more refreshing.

If you love wondering through thick gardens, and having late afternoon tea parties in the sun, you may be looking for a Floral scents are one of the most popular aromas. Usually the notes are combined with other scents; there is always a heavy overtone of flowers (duh!).  Usually those who are drawn to floral scents are romantics. They enjoy the feminine smell.

You're the type of gal that likes to rough it, and spend weekends in a cabin by a fire, you;ll probably enjoy a Woodier smell… something more natural like sandalwood or amber that’s because you like the deep scent. Woodier smells are great for both men and women; I’ve heard it is for the lusty personalities. Hint: its great for those romantic moments.

Make it last: Layering is a popular trend in our daily wear, so why not apply that to your perfume application. To keep your lovely scent all day it helps to buy shampoos, lotions, soaps and deodorants in the same fragrance. I find the perfume sticks better after using lotion.

Quick Lessons: When shopping for perfume you will come across fragrances that are also called Eau De Parfum and Eau De Toilette.
Perfume: It is the strongest concentration, so it has the strongest smell.
Eau De Parfum: Has a lower concentration of the scent.
Eau De Toilette: This is the lowest concentration of the fragrance, it will be
the most subtle.

Quick Reminders: -Hot weather means the scent will be stronger
-If you want to keep the fragrance all day, reapply throughout the day.
